Artist’s Bio:
Lisa DeLuise is a soft pastel artist who creates impressionist landscapes on paper, inspired by the natural beauty of New York’s Hudson Valley and beyond. Her process often begins outdoors, where she sets up her easel beside ponds, streams, and wooded paths. “I’m drawn to the way sunlight filters through the trees, how reflections shift across the water, and how shadows stretch and change throughout the day,” she says. “There’s a rhythm to the landscape that I try to capture before it slips away.”
Painting en plein air allows Lisa to observe subtle color shifts and light patterns in real time. These small studies are more than sketches—they’re visual notes that she brings back to the studio to develop into larger works. Using her field observations and memory, she builds compositions that reflect both the scene and the feeling of being immersed in it.
