Artist’s Bio:
ARTIST BIO – JANET L. KASLE
As an acrylic painter, Watertown, CT-based artist Janet Kasle’s interest in painting birds has blossomed over the last few years. She focuses mainly on endangered birds by creating formal portraits that highlight the unusual beauty of the majestic creatures. Through her art, she hopes to increase awareness of these birds and their plight, with a goal of demonstrating mankind’s impact on the world around us and helping the birds to once again flourish.
A self-taught painter and lifelong resident of Connecticut, Jan began to truly explore painting a decade ago when her youngest child left the nest. Along the way, she received instruction from several artists whose use of color, texture, form and technique greatly influenced her painting style. Like others who sought to use the pandemic as an opportunity to better themselves, in addition to becoming an amateur stereo photographer, Jan began to practice painting each night as a creative outlet that helped keep her centered.
Jan’s birds have been exhibited in Connecticut at Studio Hill Gallery (Woodbury) and Washington Arts Association (Washington Depot), in juried shows at the Mattatuck Museum (Waterbury), Mark Twain Library (West Redding) and the West Hartford Art League (West Hartford).
