Artist’s Bio:
I’m an artist whose professional life has always been cross-disciplinary. I earned a living in Computer Science and maintained an art practice as well. They complement an ability to synthesize language into curated and orderly systems.
My art work is primarily but not exclusively in the drawing and painting of objects that represent circumstance, coincidence, and snapshots of ideas. My writing supports the range of ideas that are the basis of my work. I try to re-imagine what’s come before and to have the agency to expand the boundaries of Contemporary art. I operate both in virtual terms and on the more haptic level of shared physical realities.
My art re-examines in Contemporary terms, the very same questions that were answered by Modernists and all who followed in their own way. What were their assumptions, constraints, and expectations? What if we break that set of operating procedures and redefine the parameters?
I like to think of my art as being original and worthwhile material but the sheer volume of art and artists who globally maintain a practice is humbling. With that in mind, I continue to confront any new art piece I’m undertaking with the questions of “What is art?”, “How do I get there?”, and “What new understanding do I bring into the world?”
