Artist’s Bio:

David Rascati is a visual artist and horticulturist specializing in watercolor painting with a particular verve for botanical, landscape, and environmentally themed art. He is currently serving as the Treasurer of the New England Watercolor Society, and is an Artist Member at Rhode Island Watercolor Society.

David has a Bachelor of Science (Magna Cum Laude) in Sustainable Plant and Soil Systems with a concentration in Environmental Horticulture from University of Connecticut. While in attendance he held a solo exhibition entitled “Ecocentric Expression”, where he explored concepts such as the duality of man and nature, and the inherent value of nature.

David also has an Associate’s of Science in Horticulture from Naugatuck Valley Community College (Cum Laude). While in attendance he completed the honors institute program. In this program, he wrote and illustrated a botanical field guide, and created landscape designs which reinterpreted paintings into 3D space, using plants as a medium. He also received the Presidential Arts Award and the Sculpture Design Contest.

David often paints plants that he grows in his garden, which serve as models and inspiration for his paintings. He uses plants for their symbolic associations in his artworks. David currently exhibits his environmentally conscious artwork in galleries around New England. He lives in East Haven, Connecticut where he dutifully tends to his garden, which serves as a fountain of limitless artistic fertility. He wishes to inspire and nurture an admiration of nature and celebrate it in all its splendor.
