Artist’s Bio:
ShawnaLee Waterbury-Kwashnak
Portrait Artist, Author, Fine Arts Instructor

Fine Arts Portraitist and author, ShawnaLee W. Kwashnak, creates exquisite lifelike works that
blend impressionism with contemporary realism. Her studio, Portraits by ShawnaLee, offers
portraiture of pets or people in charcoals or oils. ShawnaLee instructs fine arts classes
year-round through local venues or privately.
Born and raised in a rich artist’s environment in Ridgefield CT, ShawnaLee graduated cum
laude with a BA in Illustration from WCSU in 1996.
ShawnaLee has received numerous grants and awards from the Connecticut Society of
Portrait Artists, Arts Alliance of Woodbury, and Richter Association for the Arts. She has
authored a COA grant supported portraiture program that culminated into a published book
“Pandemic Portraiture: Reflections of Healing”.
ShawnaLee is an elected board member of CSOPA, Board of Stewardship for the Middlebury
Congregational Church, Volunteer Horse Patrol with the CT Horse Council, and former Girl
Scout co-leader to two troops. For fun ShawnaLee loves weaving organic grapevine and
honeysuckle baskets.
ShawnaLee is excited to explore and develop her fine arts commission and lessons practice,
offer licensing, reach new audiences through published books that share the joy of sketching
with others, and garner support for illustrating and publishing a travel journal from 1849.
